Apple changed all that. They announce one device at their own private event so they get to steal all the spotlight. Now nearly everyone does the same thing, but there are a few notable exceptions, Sony being a major one. Sony decided to announce not one, but two flagship devices at CES of all places. The Xperia Z and ZL have the exact same specifications, except one model, the Z, is waterproof and made out of glass, whereas the ZL has neither of those features. I’m still confused as to why they decided to execute on this strategy of having two incredibly similar devices out on the market at the same market, but that’s a topic for another day.
For now, I want to share a 5 minute video produced by Pocketnow that explains what’s different between these two phones. And in case you’re wondering, I like the ZL more. It doesn’t have flaps covering all the ports, and it measures 131.6 mm tall by 69.3 mm wide, versus the Z, which comes in at 139 mm tall by 71 mm wide. Same 5 inch 1080p mind you, just different body type.
